Environmental monitoring platform
Monty Compost builds IoT monitoring for composting operations. Its sensors track temperature, moisture and oxygen in real time, giving industrial facilities and small-scale composters the data to improve compost quality and yield.
Ash was working in programming and project management at a bank when she came across composting in 2018. In 2019, she won the top Shane Chidgzey Young Entrepreneurs Prize at UQ's Accelerator Pitch Night, and established Monty off the back of it. She built the Monty Monitor for backyard composters first. She has since turned the company towards industrial sites and into the United States.
Electronic devices struggle to survive inside a decomposing pile, which is why most probes are clunky and expensive. Ash spent years refining the product in the consumer market (buy yours at Bunnings!), before expanding to industrial sites across Australia and the US.
